characters are likable and honest and their struggles are emotionally charged,
raw, and heartfelt.”—hmg_vermont, Amazon.com
Here’s the Blurb
The
path to true love may not begin with a threesome, but you have to start
somewhere.
Trina Carrigan is
searching for love. After a lifetime of following her instincts, and getting nowhere,
she’s determined to use logic to find her happily-ever-after. Unfortunately,
there is nothing logical about her attraction to her new gay flatmate, Jeremy.
The sooner she finds her Mr Right, the better.
Jeremy Hayden needs
a friend. Still recovering from the isolation of an abusive relationship, he’s
struggling to build a new life for himself. He’s delighted to find a friend in
Trina, but there’s a catch: he’s not as gay as she thinks he is, and he’s
having trouble keeping his hands to himself.
Brady Shaw wants
only to be left alone. A moment of weakness has torn his life apart, forcing
him to walk away from the remains. His newfound peace is shattered, however,
when he discovers the perfect incarnation of all he’s trying to escape living
right next door. Jeremy brings to life every craving Brady’s ever denied. Trina
makes his broken heart ache to be whole. Caught between the two, Brady finds
himself facing a whole new problem. He can’t quite decide whom he wants to

(from
Chapter 5)
Brady Shaw had
never been a fan of meeting new people. If he had his way, the whole world
would leave him the hell alone and he would be only too happy to return the
favour. That way he could never disappoint anyone and he wouldn’t have anyone
to lose. Loneliness was a small price to pay for peace of mind.
Unfortunately, by
taking on the job of manager for the apartment building he now called home, he
was forced to introduce himself to all the tenants. There were only five other
apartments and he’d already visited four of them. That left the couple in the
apartment next to his. Their front door was at a right angle to his, and so
close he could probably prop both doors open at the same time if he got both
hands and a foot involved.
Katrina Carrigan
was the name on the lease, but there were definitely two people living there.
He had yet to see them, but he’d heard them talking and laughing as they
stomped up and down the external stairs.
They hadn’t been
home the last time he knocked on their door. Now though, as he mounted the
stairs leading to both sets of front doors, Brady could see light filtering
through their kitchen window. Someone was home and it was time he got the
introductions over with. After a quick stop at his own apartment to pick up a
printout of his details, he crossed to his neighbours’ door. All he had to do
was give them the sheet of paper and let them know they should come to him if
anything in the apartment needed fixing. Then he could go back to his own
apartment and commence ignoring them whenever possible.
He gave a firm
knock on the door. A male voice swore a blue streak in the apartment beyond and
Brady was impressed by the man’s creativity. Apparently, he had bad timing. A
quick glance at his watch showed it was a few minutes after nine. Damn. He
should have waited till morning to do this, but it was too late to back out
now. Two minutes and he’d be gone, anyway.
The door flung open
to reveal a woman. Her porcelain skin was flushed, her lips wet and swollen
from thorough kissing. “Can I help you?” she asked in a breathy voice. One hand
raked through her shoulder-length hair, though the dark strands had already
been mussed by someone else’s fingers. “Hello?” A faint crease appeared on her
forehead as she watched him stand there gaping like a freaking idiot.
“Hi.” Brady tried
desperately to remember what he was supposed to say at this point, but his
brain was distracted by the sight of the woman’s hard nipples straining against
pale pink cotton as she took deep, calming breaths.
“Hey, buddy.” She
crossed her arms over her chest. “My eyes are up here?”
Brady shook his
head in an effort to regain some modicum of composure. Katrina was obviously
not pleased about being drooled over by a total stranger on her own doorstep.
He couldn’t blame her. It wasn’t her fault he had lousy timing. “Right, sorry.
You… ah… you took me by surprise.”
She snorted.
“Surprises seem to be the theme of the night so…” She fell silent, waiting for
him to explain himself.
Clearing his
throat, he launched into his prepared introduction. “The name’s Brady. I’ve
inherited this building from my uncle and I’m going to be managing the place
from now on.” He held out the slip of paper he still had clutched in one hand.
“Here are my details. If you ever need anything, if something in the apartment
breaks, let me know and I’ll take care of it.” Until now, the thought of any of
his tenants actually needing anything from him was enough to make him shudder.
Maybe he wouldn’t mind so much if Katrina did the asking.
“Huh,” she said as
she took the paper and glanced over it before returning her attention to him.
“I’m sorry about your uncle. Were you close?”
“More so recently,”
Brady said with a nod. Uncle Ben had been around his whole life, but it was
only in the past year he’d gotten to know the older man better. When the shit
hit the fan and everyone else in the family started looking at him like a
stranger, Uncle Ben had been the one to reach out, inviting him over for a
beer, offering an ear if he needed one. Brady would always be grateful for his
uncle’s willingness to accept him no matter what. Then, the older man had died
unexpectedly of a heart attack. When Brady was told he’d inherited this
building, a building no one else in the family seemed to know anything about,
it was like the old bugger had been telling him there was a way to escape if he
needed one. As soon as the paperwork had been finalised, he took it. He quit
his job and disappeared from what little was left of his old life. He didn’t
expect to be heading back that way any time soon.
“I usually have to
go to the real estate agent if I need anything,” Katrina said now.
Brady had decided
to leave the agent in charge of collecting rent and dealing with leases, but
take over the maintenance work himself. It would be cheaper, and without the
steady income of a regular job, he needed every cent he could get from this
place. Starting over wasn’t cheap. To Katrina, he said, “I’ve decided to take a
more hands-on approach. From now on, you’ll have to come for me.” It wasn’t
until she gave him an amused smirk he realised what he’d said. “To me,” he
corrected, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand. “Come to me.”
“The agent never
answers their phone and always takes at least two days to call me back.” Her
tone was officious, but her eyes teased. “Will you be more reliable?”
“It would be hard
not to be,” he said as he gestured to his own front door. “I’ve moved in next
to you.”
She gave a little
gasp before smiling at him in apparent delight. “Isn’t that handy. You’ll be
available any time I want you.” If he hadn’t known better, Brady would’ve
thought she was flirting with him. Which made no sense, considering her
boyfriend was somewhere inside. And where the hell was he anyway? If Katrina
was Brady’s woman, there was no way he’d have her answering the door after dark
looking like some teenager’s wet dream. What the hell was the man thinking?
As if reading his
thoughts, Katrina turned her head and called, “Jeremy, come meet our new
neighbour slash landlord.”
“Do I have to?” The
voice that drifted from somewhere further in was tinged with annoyance. Not
surprising, considering what these two had obviously been doing when he knocked
on the door. Brady swallowed hard and pretended his cock wasn’t twitching at
the thought. It had been way too long since he’d been laid.
“Yes, you have to,”
Katrina responded.
“Is he hot?”
She looked back at
Brady with a grin and winked. “Yes.”
There was a scuffle
of feet and then the door opened wider as Katrina’s boyfriend appeared by her
side. He was a couple of centimetres taller than Brady. Leaner, but strong.
Clear green eyes lit up at the sight of him, despite the shock of brown hair
getting in the way. Brady damn near forgot how to breathe.
“Holy crap.” The
man laughed as he openly perused Brady from head to boot. “Where the hell have
you been?”
Katrina’s brow
crinkled. “You two know each other?”
“Not yet, but let’s
not rule anything out.” He took a step forward, one hand held out in greeting.
“I’m Jeremy Hayden, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Brady lowered his
eyes as they shook. His palm twitched at the feel of warm skin. Yeah, that
getting laid thing—too fucking long. “Likewise,” he croaked. Clearing his
throat, he tried again. “Sorry about interrupting your evening, Katrina,
Jeremy,” he said, gesturing to them. “I’ll get out of your hair.” The sooner he
got away from these two the better. Even if he spent the remainder of the
evening imagining them together, at least in the privacy of his own apartment
he wouldn’t have to worry about getting caught doing it.
He’d started to
turn away when the sound of Katrina’s voice made him pause. “It’s just Trina,”
she said. “It says Katrina on my birth certificate, but everyone calls me
Trina.”
He nodded as he
caressed the curves of her face with his gaze. “Trina.” It was only a word,
nothing more, but the way it came out of his mouth, even he could hear the lust
that underpinned his tone—he made her name sound like an invitation. Her
feminine intake of breath was an all too eager reply.
Brady swallowed
hard as his gaze darted to Jeremy. The other man watched the two of them with
eyes that saw too much and Brady thought for sure he’d cop a fist to the face.
He’d damn well deserve it too.
Instead, Jeremy
gestured to him with one arm. “I think you should come inside, Brady,” he said.
“The night is young and I’m making us all coffee. It would be rude if you
didn’t drink it.” Without waiting for an answer, he headed around the corner to
the nearby kitchen.
Brady shook his
head, took a single step backward. “I shouldn’t.” If he’d thought meeting the
other tenants was painful, coming face-to-face with these two was an exercise
in torture. It was like God and the Devil conspired to create the perfect
incarnation of everything he was running away from, and threw them in his face.
He already had to live beside them. If he started spending time with them he
may implode.
Trina watched him
in silence as he stood there staring at her like the indecisive git he was.
“You’re welcome to join us,” she told him. “But we’ll understand if you have
other things you need to do.”
She was giving him
an out, just like Uncle Ben had when he left him this place. He could take it.
Go into his apartment and close the door behind him. He could pretend he’d
gotten used to being alone, that the darkness he’d hidden in this past year
hadn’t become oppressive.
Or he could join
his new neighbours for a cup of coffee—and not be alone for a while.
He took a tentative
step forward. “Coffee sounds good.”

About “Everything We Need” from Rebecca
The lovely Trina
Carrigan has always been a solid part of the Finding Forever series. In Our
Little Secret she only managed a mention, as Derek’s younger sister. Lost in Amber saw her first on-page
appearance and then, in This Time Forever,
she played a major supportive role in the development of Jake and Kelly’s
relationship. Trina was single in every book, and I couldn’t help but notice
how upset she was getting with the situation. She had to have her own book and
her very own happy ending. In fact, I loved Trina so much I felt the need to
give her two heroes to enjoy on her journey towards love.

the mix. She lives in Queensland, Australia with her very own hero husband, two
adorable children and one big, black dog. Other than reading and writing books,
her favourite things include loud music, enjoying a glass of wine on the patio,
organising everything in existence, and spending too much time on the Internet.
