Hello Friends,
The Ocean’s 8 movie is the
latest release in the Ocean’s franchise. The heist plan in the movie was so
clever and almost flawless. The team of actresses were a pleasure to watch. The
fun in this movie is watching the team doing the crime, amidst the fashion and
glamour of New York’s Met Gala Ball. I wished the plot was grittier, and harder
for the women squad to steal the diamonds. I’m not complaining. Ocean’s 8 was
an entertaining film and worth watching for its hustling ladies.
The Characters and Actresses of the Ocean’s
Eight Team were;
Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock)
– the Boss lady. She spent five years in jail planning a jewel heist, and she puts
together a team of mostly women to do the crime.
Lou Miller (Cate Blanchett)
– partner in crime and with on-screen chemistry. A tough-ish character. Mesmerizing,
I couldn’t stop watching her choppy blonde fringe tease her eyelashes. I liked
her fashion credo.
Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway)
– insecure beauty, celebrity diva and crime victim almost to the end of the
movie, and then she turns bad.
Rose Weil (Helena Bonham
Carter) - fashion designer, who wears punkish Victorian age
costumes. Wonderfully Britishly.
Nine Ball (Rihanna)
– computer hacker, just great at breaking into systems and checking out someone
else’s CCTV security cameras. All the while she looks cool working at her desk located
in the back of a halal van. I join other commentaters wishing Rihanna had more screen time
and character development in the movie.
Constance (Awkwafina)
– street con with slippery fingers. A pickpocket specialist. Awesome Awkwafina.
Amita (Mindy Kaling) – jeweler who fights
with her mother and wants a new life. In a tiny room—a toilet stall, and with
the clock ticking, she can pull apart a $150 million diamond necklace like it’s
a lego set. Calm under pressure goddess.
Tammy (Sarah Paulson) – homemaker with a
shady past. She’s persuaded to leave behind party planning and returns to
making money the crooked way.
